Cafe Training Programme

The Cafe Training Programme is essentially for people who are looking for the next step towards recovery from homelessness.

The training programme commences with 4-6 weeks of mixed learning sessions that incorporate “learning by doing” activities and structured classroom-style sessions.  Participants learn about food hygiene, kitchen safety and different types of foods during the day and are given the opportunity to assist in preparation for evening concerts at Union Chapel. At the end of their voluntary placement, participants can take a Level 2 certificate in Food Hygiene and if interested, can apply to undertake a paid work experience placement of 4 months with the Margins Cafe, that serves at all Union Chapel concerts. As part of their work placement, participants attend counselling and mentoring sessions.

Recruitment for the next training programme beginning August 2015 is now open! For more information and the application form, please contact

We invite applicants from agencies working within the homelessness sector as well as self-referrals.
